Where are the Windows 7 newsgroups ?

I have a Toshiba Satellite x205-sli4 32-bit with Vista Ultimate.

I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 as soon as it is prudent to do so.

I have read in the media that this upgrade will be free of charge. Is this
true ?

Does anyone know of any issues ?

Any advice in general ?

Microsoft has established an excellent special web-based Windows 7 Beta Forum you
can access here:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...egory/w7itpro/

Please repost your inquiry in the "Windows 7 Installation, Setup, and Deployment"
forum:

There is no such thing as "an excellent special web based forum".

Frank and the nymshifter may well have killed Usenet for Windows 7.

There are none, as yet. There are several web-based forums, but we all
know how cumbersome it is to use those.

Then, assuming the laptop meets Win7's minimum system requirements,
wait until (if it happens, at all) Toshiba provides Win7-specific device
drivers for all of that model's components. You'll also want to be sure
that the manufacturers of any peripherals (printers, scanners, web cams,
etc.) that you plan to continue using have also provided Win7-specific
device drivers for their respective products.

In general, no, it's not true. In fact, it's pretty much utter
nonsense. Some computer manufacturers are selling computers Vista
installed now, along with a voucher for a free upgrade to Win7, but this
is entirely at the discretion of each computer manufacturer. There
certainly will be no free upgrade of retail licenses.

Bullshit. You are the retard who doesn't belong. Look at all the replies
you get to your posts. Everyone tells you to shove it up your ass.

Remember Ubuntu is worth exactly what you pay for it: NOTHING

They don't exist. There is only a web-based forum. Newsgroups may or
may not exist after the October 22 date for Windows 7 to hit the
retail shelves.

Why? A change of operating system should be driven by need, not just
because there is a new version available. Are you having a problem
with Windows Vista that you expect 7 to solve? Do you have or expect
to get new hardware or software that is supported in 7, but not in
Vista? Is there some new feature in 7 that you need or yearn for? Does
your job require you have skills in 7? Are you a computer hobbyist who
enjoys playing with whatever is newest?

If the answer to one or more of those questions is yes (and your
hardware is adequate for 7), then you should get 7. Otherwise most
people should stick with what they have. There is *always* a learning
curve and a potential for problems when you take a step as big as this
one, regardless of how wonderful whatever you're contemplating moving
to is. Sooner or later you'll have to upgrade (to 7 or its successor)
because you'll want support for hardware or software that you can't
get in Vista, but don't rush it.

I say all the above despite the fact that I'm a big 7 fan. I think
it's the best and most stable of all versions of Windows.

No! There are some OEM vendors that will supply a free upgrade if you
buy theirs computer now, but with older ones, definitely not.

I would say that XP is still a great platform and is very stable, Vista
was the same as Windows ME - enough to get people to buy more hardware
to support the new O/S Windows 7.

Been running Win 7 for a week, it's fater than Vista, more stable than
Vista, and on one laptop that has no vista/win7 drivers the old XP video
drivers work fine in Win7 (as they did after Vista SP1 came out).

Win 7 seems to be what XP was to Win 98SE.

I'm not in a popularity contest. You, OTOH, have to change your nym
every time you post because you don't like being in the bozo bin. When
you and Frank aren't here, this group is quiet and that's a fact, Jack.

When we are not here, you run wild with your lies and posts about that
INFERIOR Ubuntu that 99.9999999% of the population reject as worthless.

Remember, Ubuntu has been FREE for years yet most reject it as garbage.
