Upgrade to W7 64 from Vista 64 now can't record TV

I have a Hauppage 950Q USB tuner. Worked great in Vista watching and
recording OTA local HD channels. In TV setup the tuner is discovered,
however on first play the wheel spins forever and generates an error that
the tuner is already in use, a small box appears that is supposed to have
the name of a program in it, as if I was recording or an extender was
watching and I was trying to change the channel. No name in the box, there
is in fact no previous task for the tuner. Clicking the box then starts the
TV. This will not occur again until a system reboot. Media center can be
exited and reentered no problem. This I could live with.

Unfortunately it will not record. Pressing the record button or scheduling a
recording fails. There is no apparent error like the "tuner in use" error
described above. Red dot appears in guide, but no file appears in the
recorded tv folder. Buffer is maintained and forward and back and pause
work. So file writing is happening.

Examining the event viewer there are two errors that occur over and over
again. Live TV and the recording request both produce these. See the end of
this article.

Live TV generates these once or twice until the channel appears, but
recording continues to generate several error events and it never stops as
far as I can tell. I always stop the recording or exit MC.

Things I've tried: Deleting the data base in ehome. Running the TV setup
again. Reinstalling the tuner. Trying the live TV and the recording from
Xbox 360 extender. Same result with errors reptd event viewer. Deleted the
XBox, reassociated it. I've moved the recording folder elsewhere and back.
Checked the permissions on the recording folder; ehsched and ehrecvr both
have read and write perms. Guide is correct and updates properly.

That is all I can remember at the moment. I've searched everywhere and find
no similar complaint. I so do not want to clean install. The tuner is sound
and tests ok in other apps. Any ideas that I've missed please?

Thank you, yes. And you might be surprised to learn that W. Update offers a
more recent update than is available on the website, dated in October. How
often does that happen? Anyway, neither solves the problem.
