Are you able to get into safe mode? If so, uninstall GoBack. I had the same
problem when upgrading from ME to XP. GoBack loads before the OS which can
wreck havoc when trying to upgrade/install an OS. If you can't get into safe
mode, a reformat of the HD you intend to use as your system disk is most
likely in order. That's what I had to do a couple of years ago. Once I'd
done that, the install went smoothly. If you want to continue using GoBack,
make it the first program installed after the OS upgrade is complete.
