Upgrade to XP From 2000 - updates won't install

We just upgraded approx 40 machines from 2000 to xp sp2. Was not clean
install just upgraded over top of 2000.

Now Automatic updates will download but not install. Can't get any of the
xp updates to work.

Could this be an issue between the winnt folder and windows folder?

Any ideas

Try this solution at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

Reboot

Now try to install your updates.


Also a free prog. called "dial-a-fix", will sort out your download prob.and
some others if you need,.....

Go ahead and download Dial-a-fix.

Reboot into safe mºde (F-8)

Click the green checkmark and click Go.

After it has finished,

Reboot

Can you go to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates),
and apply all offered updates

I upgraded from Win2000 Pro to XP Pro and ran into the same issues. Very
helpful post Engle
Solved my problems. I used the directions given is KB943144. Worked like
a charm.
