When updating to SP2 I got this message: Error 8007f004. I have a
feeling that I don have priviledge to install this update although am
running as Administrator.

Recently I had I problem with System Restore who also reported that I
do not have the priviledge although I had been logged as
Administrator. In that case I restarted in the Safe Mode and ran the
System Restore then after the reboot got the message that did not have
rights to restore the system andnevertheless the System Restore was
completed successfully.

Presiously I have already once installed the SP2 but had to remove it
because it was impossible to install Microsoft Office 97 Pro MS Access
component.

Please advice!

STATUS_INSUFFICIENT_PRIVS
You do not have permission to update . Please contact your system
administrator.

try
If available use SECPOL.MSC
go to local policies\user rights assignment and set the administrators options

Thank you, I felt this and had tried.

This is what I have in this section:
http://www.dmnow.org/images/RightsAssignment.gif

What needs to be changed here?

I do not see a line either for update or system restore.
(The line "Back up files and directories" I have just added with
arguments but not tried yet.)

Can/should I add a new line?

Hans

take ownership of files and objects is ok
restore files and folders is ok
generate security audits (administrators could be added and tried, if no
good remove)
debug programs is ok

problem could be here

back up files and folders you should add " administrators" with an "s"
that's the group.
I don't like zelda\meszter, zelda\administrator entries because all your
other entries are by group
designations such as administrators, guest, system ,support ,etc.

Type start\run\ %windir%\System32\control.exe userpasswords2

you sould see the listing of created accounts and what they are changes
could be necessary.

Other than that it could be that your "user profiles" are mixte-up or damaged.

If so I would suggest you try to make another administator account and try
that.
