Upgrade to XP

I have recently upgraded to XP Home Edition and every now and then my
computer freezes and I have to reset it. It has been happening during
different programs but more so on internet explorer. Microsoft Word also has
alot of problems. I was wondering if this could be because it is 97 version
although internet explorer is no 6. I'm not very computer literate but am
hoping someone can help me.

The most common causes of freezing seems to be overheating and memory problems.
Check to see that all the internal fans are working correctly and not clogged or obstructed.
Reseat the memory, or try 1 stick at a time.
Leave the case cover off to see if it runs cooler and stops freezing.

Try lowering the "Hardware Accelerator" setting a notch or two.

Right-click the desktop, select Properties. Click the "Settings" tab.
Click the "Advanced" button, click the "Troubleshoot" tab.
