We just upgraded a 2003 server to 2008r2 , AD tells me it is a 2003 server.
Should we reset the account?

Hello CANews,

As i never do inplace upgrades i haven't seen that before, but as you don't
talk about problems or errors, check with dcdiag /v and repadmin /showrepl,
i will be sure an account reset wan't help. The shown OS belongs to a kind
of attribute reading which seems not functioning correct in your case.

Best regards

Are you using ADUC from a 2003 server? This maybe why. Try looking at the
computer object from the 2008 R2 server and see if that helps.

I'm somewhat surprised the box that 2003 was running on would be able
to handle a 2008 R2 upgrade.

As Meinolf indicated and implied, I am not fond of upgrades, either.
I've always found them problematic one way or another. A clean install
is usually recommended.

And as Paul said, the 2003 ADUC console may show up that way. However,
I have an R2 DC and a 2003 DC in one customer domain. Looking at the
properties of the server, Operating System tab from the 2003 ADUC
Domain Controller OU, it does show as 2008 R2 Standard, so that tells
me it's reading an identifier.

Therefore, I would think that it was due to the upgrade. I wouldn't
suggest resetting the account, since I don't believe that will work. I
also assume this is not a domain controller, you are speaking of.

Ace
