Upgrading hardware, need to reinstall?

I am about to do an upgrade of my pc and was wondering
what problems I might encounter when I start up my pc for
the first time after the hardware upgrade?

I have Windows Vista Ultimate full version retail running at the
moment, I'm aware of the fact I have to activate my OS again that's
not a problem (I hope ;-) but what was on my mind was do I
have to reload Vista Ultimate again for the hardware changes
to be recognized?
I do remember a few years ago I had to reinstall Windows xp
after a hardware upgrade so is vista the same or have they now
improved the upgrading of hardware procedure in Windows
vista.
I can also remember just recently Microsoft talking about an
option within the full version of Vista Ultimate giving the user
the option to upgrade the hardware without having to do a
reinstall just select the hardware upgrade option on vista
ultimate DVD but I can't seem to find anymore info about
upgrading options on the DVD
Any Suggestion???

which hardware are you upgrading ???That will get you better answers....I
just upgrade my motherboard, processor and ram....I did a repair and
reactivate that is all...I went from a AMD 64bit on a older winfast board
and ddr 400 ram to the Intel core2 duo 2.66 and a Intel d975xbx2 Bad Axe
motherboard and 4 gigs of ddr800 ram

Worse case, You will have to use your Vista CD to run repair and that will
fix. I have tried it allready going from a completly diffrent motherboard to
another with diffrent processors and video cards. Good news is you wont have
to reinstall vista.

Yeah I didn't mention my upgrades,
I'm upgrading to P5N32-E SLI motherboard, QX6700,
EN8800 GTX 768 video cards x2 sli, and OCZ PC8500
From Asrock motherboard 2gb of ram, and 512mb video card
I have read that you can select repair but I was curious about the
options in vista ultimate regarding hardware upgrades, still haven't
found anymore info.

I was hoping I would find someone thats upgraded their motherboard
cpu video card etc...
Whats the procedure with the repair?

Well after you do a hardware change like a diffrent motherboard or cpu, you
windows vista wont be able to boot, it gets to the boot screen loads up then
comes up with a error telling you your system has changed and to run the
repair option from you dvd. You load up the dvd run the repair it only take
a few seconds and your done, you will have to reactivate your windows after
completed.
