I have a Compaq SR5110 that came with Windows Home Basic and I just purchased
the Upgrade to Vista Home Premium to upgrade. I go through all the processes
as far as I know and it gets to the end with no problems identified and when
its gets to completing the installation at the end of it is says a couple
things havn't been installed and says that it will take you back to the
original Vista installation of the basic. And I click yes and then I have to
start over and I have now done this several hour process twice. I have turn
off my anti virus and am not sure what else to do. Do I just close out the
dialoug that says to go back to the original and see what happens with out
saying yes????
Need some help please.

Thanks,
Bobbyr

It appears you are talking about an 'upgrade' and not 'update'.
Would suggest you subscribe to one of the below - general perhaps.

I had exactly the same problem (although my machine is an SR5030). I
downloaded the key from Windows Anytime Upgrade, received the installation CD
about 10 days later, ran the program as prescribed and wound up with the same
result you did. "one or two elements could not be installed; upgrade
unsuccessful; please wait while the original OS is restored." Have no
idea what the problem is or how to fix it.
