New to the group. I checked through the posts that downloaded when I joined,
but didn't see this question.

I presently have Windows Messenger version 4.7.3001 and have downloaded
Windows Live Messenger which is sitting on my desktop. I have also saved my
contacts, which are sitting in another folder on the desktop.

Is it recommended to uninstall my present version of messenger before
installing Windows Live Messenger, or just install on top of the present
version?

Windows Messenger is built into the Windows XP operating system and should
NOT be confused with the similarly-named Windows Live Messenger. FYI, the
latest version of Windows Messenger is 5.1.0701. You Do NOT have to
uninstall Windows Messenger...Windows Live Messenger is a separate instant
messaging program from Microsoft.

I think I've lost interest.
