The language of the ME system is (fill in the blank)?
The language of the XP upgrade is (fill in the blank)?
These have to be the same and obviously they are not, that
is what the error message is telling you.
To fix the problem you must do either one of these steps...
return the upgrade CD for exchange for one with the same
language as the ME installation; or
buy a new retail full install and either do a clean install
or setup a dual boot (if you have enough disk space and a
program such as Partition Magic to create a partition.
If you choose to do a clean install, you can buy a MS OEM XP
CD which will need to be installed on a formatted drive
without an OS present. You could try booting your ME
machine from a floppy and deleting the Windows directory,
leaving your data intact. But no matter what procedure you
follow, backup your data before you begin.
