Of course you can install sp2 as so many others have found out.
First, however, you need to insure that your computer is ready for SP2 (see
instructions on the MS site).
In particular, make certain that there is no malware on the system.
It might be possible to remove sp2, but it certainly would be hard. Prudent
people always backup their systesm before installing such an upgrade.
Yes, your BIOS may need to be updated for whatever the SP2 changes need.
Only the manufacturer knows though.
It took me 2 hours to get the job done, in August of 2005. I thought that I
was a bit late; you are way way late.
By the way, after you are done and have your firewall working and AV
software working, get the 80+ updates which have been produced since SP2.
Installing them will keep you busy for quite a while.
