2 scenarios we’re concerned about:
A. Current IP leases during the upgrade:
Presumably these will client will be OK till the lease expiration?
What happens to the active reservations? Will these clients remain connected?
Assuming that the upgrade goes successfully, is there likely to be any
impact on any of the clients?
(NB this DHCP server operates alone within the subnet range / site)

B. In the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful and the DHCP / DC server in
this site is rendered unrecoverable, and needs to be completely rebuilt, our
DR strategy will be to backup the DHCP and recover to another server in the
same site. Is this the correct approach?

Hello jpsrstokato,

A.
If your lease time is long enough, shouldn't be a problem. After the half
lease time the client tries to renew it's ip address, if this is unsuccesful
again after the next half(quarter in reality) and so on. So shouldn't be
a problem if the lease time is long enough. Also reservations shouldn't have
problem.

B.
You can ofcourse backup and restore the DHCP database to another server before
starting the upgrade:
