Right now I'm running Vista Home Premium 64 bit ( OEM ) would it benefit
me to upgrade to Vista Ultimate 64 bit ? If so do I chose Retail or OEM
and why? I have heard that a new OS maybe coming soon that is why I'm
asking. I enjoy Vista alot except for playing some of my older games
which is why I dual boot with XP Pro and Vista. Thanks for any info you
might be able to suggest.

Absolutely not. If you wanted Ultimate, you really should have bought it
originally. The upgrade prices are ridiculous, and you don't get much added
value for your money!

Your older games will not run on the 64-bit version
of Windows Vista...stay with the 32-bit version.
The next Windows operating system won't be available
for several years, maybe 2010.

Not really. Using home premium will get you the same results as
Ultimate. The only thing you'll get with ultimate is bitlocker. And
there are better encription software that is easier to use then that.

Your system will run ultimate no problem. I have had them sid by side
and you see virtually no difference.

People like Tie Various are a dime a dozen. They cant get Vista to work
for one reson or another.

They either have cheap systems that are incapable of running vista
properly.

Or lack sufficient understanding about computers to set it up
correctly.

Base your expierience on your own results. Not soap box preachers.

You would really need to look at the different features between the two. You
get the same functionality, just a few different "features" like Dreamscene
(animated background), BitLocker (for encrypting your hard drive)... For
just daily use or gaming, No. If you need the other features, sure. But, as
for performance or compatibility, nothing will change.
