Urgent: Messenger "Remember Me" Store location

Hello:

Could someone please point me to the location (either in the registry or
file system) where Windows Live Messenger 8.1 stores the usernames and/or
passwords that appear in the drop-down list in the login screen?

I need to clear these, either programmatically or through a script that I'll
run at NT logoff. If there's any way (any registry setting perhaps?) I can
get Messenger itself to do this, or even disable the entire "Remember Me"
feature itself, that'd be golden!

This issue is an urgent one, and a quick reply will be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Rajesh Shenoy

Greetings Rajesh,

It's not a simple as a simple delete. Messenger stores these in the Credential Manager in
Windows.

You can get to the Credential Manager by Start, Run:
control userpasswords2
choosing the Advanced tab, and then Manage Passwords. The Messenger ones are the
(WindowsLive) entries.

As such, I believe you'll need to write code to remove these. Unfortunately there are no
GPOs for Messenger to stop it from saving credentials.
