usb device not recognised

Whenever i try and download photos off my digital camera is comes up with an
error of windows does not recognise it. I have not made any changes to my
computer and have downloaded photos off my camera a week ago. The only think
that has changed is the windows updates. Does anyone know how to fix this
problem. I have followed the troubleshooting steps but nothing seems to be
working.
