usb devise not recognized

I have vista 32 bit and all my usb ports were working just fine until 2 days
ago. Just out of the blue stopped working. windows does not recognize them
anymore
however i us the same cables on my other computers and they work just fine.
I've tried everything all the forums have said and nothing works. I have
installed sp1 and for about an hour they worked and then they stopped again.
I am so frustrated. I don't know what else to do. I removed my battery
unplugged my laptop from the wall socket. went to cmd and did the set
devmgr... thing, uninstalled unknown stuff, deleated infcache etc......
HELP!!! I

I am having the same trouble....with usb ports, CD drive, and wit
memory card slots. Always get the message that the drive needs to b
formatted. I've tried several different thumb drives and memory cards
none work. I know that there are files on them, because my XP compute
reads them, and my digital camera reads them. Any help out there?
have tried copying usbstor files etc. Running Vista Home Premium 32 bi
with Service PAck 1
