We have tried to install a new printer that is usb supported. After going
through all of the set-up, it comes back with an error message that it can
not find the device. Previously, I used a printer that was parallel cable
supported, all printers now are USB supported. The system is Windows 98. 3
different devices have been tried(2 different printers, 1 digital camera)
all comeback with above error message. HELP any suggestions ?

Are the USB ports visible in Device Manager?
- are they actually switched on in the BIOS?
are they on the motherboard, or on a PCI Card - or connected at all?

"taispidell",

Thank you for your question. This newsgroup is dedicated to questions about
USB. There is an actual newsgroup that deals with hardware in Windows XP.
Here it is:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware
microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

Please let us know if you have any issues with downloading from Windows
Update.

Sincerely,
