I have a Dell E1505 laptop, which has a 2.5" SATA drive for the system
drive, and
runs Windows Vista. I have a USB external drive adaptor which supports
both SATA
and IDE drives. I have a 3.5" IDE drive which I'd like to use as an
external drive for
the laptop, but when I hook it to the USB adapter and to the laptop,
it recognizes the
"USB Mass Storage Device", but doesn't seem to recognize the drive
itself.

Should my E1505 be able to support an IDE drive in this fashion, and
if so what
do I need to do to get the IDE drive working?

I have the same problem

I have a USB to IDE manufactured by R-Driver ii. It deoesnt work with
Windows XP Home edition. It says USB is recognised but the device is
not. Can anybody help?

The IDE drive is from a laptop and runs with the USB cable power. I
can hear the drive running when I hook it up. It was working on the
laptop before. I have seen the Disk management but nothing there. The
problem seems to be that the windows fails to install the new
hardware.

It gives me message that recognised "USB-IDE"
then as "USB Mass Storage "
then it pops up saying "Failed to install new hardware"
reason being that device is not recognised. I dont know how to solve
it.
