Hello.
No, your BIOS wouldn't have changed but you did switch your OS (from Home to
Pro-they are rather different) so a BIOS update may help. Also, BIOSes can
(very rarely) become corrupt-but you probably would've had more trouble if
that were the case.
Don't forget about looking for a "chipset" or "motherboard" update from the
laptop's manufacturer. This type of program tells Windows how to recognize
the hardware on the motherboard, and if that is outdated, corrupted, or
missing you can encounter problems like this.
The yellow "!" is a bad sign. The yellow exclamation point means that
Windows is unable to find the right driver for the USB ports. That means
that either Windows doesn't know what the proper driver is, or the USB info
is being reported by the BIOS/chipset incorrectly. That means USB will not
function in Windows. What happened when you attempted to Update Driver?
What makes no sense is your USB mouse working! If your mouse is working
(and is USB), unplug it and try your other devices using that exact USB port
connector. If that USB port recognizes your mouse, it should recognize your
other devices as well assuming you have properly installed the latest
software for those other devices. It's really uncommon, but if that (and
only that) mouse USB port functions, then there is likely a physical problem
with the other ports (broken solder, short, obstruction, etc.). Also try
your mouse in the other USB ports.
