USB Mouse

I suddenly have a black USB icon in my notification tray. When I click it,
a window opens that informs me that my mouse has malfunctioned and Windows
doesn't recognize it, which I find interesting since I used the mouse to
open the notification to begin with. In the meantime, the mouse appears to
work fine. Any ideas on this?

Haven't got one available at the moment. I was hoping someone had seen
something like this before and had a quick answer. The Icon is gone now
without any action on my part, and the mouse continues to work fine.
