Hi,

Can I use one machine (XP Pro) which is connected to the internet and get
all the updates/service packs etc. and then take that to the site where 10
machines are connected in a workgroup situation (no internet) and then update
those 10 via this machine?

Thanks

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want, Click the “Go To
Download Basket” link. Type in or browse to the location where you want the updates saved to and
then Click the “Download Now” button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

(NB: xxxxxx is the 6 numerical digits of the KB.

For security and other patches released for a given month :
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms##-***.mspx
Replace ## with the two-digit year
Replace *** with the three character month abbreviation
Example: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-jan.mspx

Providing there are releases for that month, you will see the list of "critical" "important"
patches for that month
Check on the 2nd Tuesday of each month - later in the day.

Thank you for getting back. Since the other 10 workgrp machines will be
getting the updates for the first time, will there be an issue regarding the
update software not being on them?

This should give you the order:
Your one stop post for Windows Critical Updates!
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=31886

Just do one machine, see how you go, work out what you need to install (but
don't do too many at once).

Create a System Restore point before you start.
