"use the same display picture and personal message wherever I sign in" not working

I use my personal hotmail account to sign in and I have selected the
captioned option, and it works perfectly.

At work, I have created a new email address with LIVE.COM domain to
communicate with a few overseas customers, but my home Windows Live
Messenger doesn't display the same image and message when I sign in
using the Live.com account.

I try testing the issue using my wife's Hotmail account to sign in and
it also works - same picture and message as on her computer, so it
appears to be limited to my Live.com address.

Both computers are running Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1302.1018

Is this a known problem and is there a fix? Thanks
