I have tried to use "search" to find specific words in files or specific
words in filenames. But generally, search doesn't work. I end up trying to
find the file myself. in all my drives, which sometimes takes awhile. Is
there some target file(s) for search that might be incorrect? I really need
to be able to use this program. Thanks.

This is not a Media Center question, of course.

There's a free (donations accepted) download called Super Finder XT at
http://fsl.sytes.net/ which might work better for you than the Windows
Search.

Or maybe you should try Super Finder (i.e., without the 'XT"). Browse on
the site - or syte :-)

I use both the XT version and Windows search, depending on my mood.

Thanks, Mr (or Ms?) Sengupta. That is a most interesting KB article. I
would neve have expected, for example, that text inside of comments in an
HTML file would be invisible to a search engine. Who at Microsoft made that
choice?

The article ends up being an excellent argument for using third party
search software...
