Damn thing is driving me nuts. All of a sudden today my Usenet feed keeps
going out. machine keeps asking me to log on over and over and even though
the box is checked to save password it is still gone next time. Finally will
let me on, then will not send messages, same thing over and over asking for
me to log on. I finally loaded a free news feed that is working fine. My ISP
says nothing wrong on their end, and when I went and tried my desktop the
feed is fine it's an XP. Any ideas what this (Vista HP) thing is doing?

Try using Thunderbird instead of Windows Fail.

Are you talking about Windows Mail and NNTP? If you are talking about WM
and NNTP, then WM will loose the User-Id and psw for authentication.

You can give it the credentials and tell it to save them. It will work
for a second and loose them again, when repeated attempts are made to
give the credentials and save them.

This has only happened to me about five times, but what I find that
works is shut down WM, start it back-up, go to the account, set it
manually and then it will hold. But a couple of times when I did that, I
had to boot the machine to get WM to hold the user-id and psw.

And, of course, you don't want it to be loose but tight, right?

Maybe it's loose due to too much tequila ...

Translation: Windows Fail failed again, folks. Even Outhouse Distress
was better than that.

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned Windows mail, the new version of outlook.
It worked for a couple days fine, then this. I am using the same windows
mail with the newsmotzarella and it works. I will try your idea next time
see if it fixes it.

I know you meant to say the new version of Outlook EXPRESS. I have been
having similar problems off and on the last few days, especially yesterday.
Some threads won't allow me to reply to no matter what I do. It sends
without an error message, but the posting never shows up on the server. I
reset my router and everything. Sometimes I keep getting asked for my
credentials. It has been a mess.

Yes OE was all I have ever used. When I got this a couple days ago I was
pretty impressed that I managed to get it set up first try. I am VERY much
an armature at this. <G>
Anyway glad to hear it's not just me, it was really ****ing me off. What the
hell this free feed seems to work for now. If it keeps up fine. if not I
guess will have to try T-Bird. Have been hearing people say they like it for
years, but since OE always worked I just never bothered to try. I did try
Firefox a few weeks back and do like it better than IE7

Sometimes, this problem originates with the server.

Ok this may sound dumb, but I am getting my news feed from my ISP. If I try
Windows Mail it does not work, yet when I use this free service it is taking
the feed from the same server I think, that my ISP gave me, and it works. It
just had me set it up on WM so now I have 2 news accounts.
