User access control (UAC) annoyance

Hi,

I have Vista Ultimate on my laptop. All the tools and software packages
are have been installed on my system for a while and are running fine.

Yesterday, I have upgraded a tool called "Quick Media Converter". I
like this tool, however, everytime I invoke this program I get the "User
Access Control" window prompting for the administrator's password. None
of the other applications have this issue.

Is there anyway I can install this program with user lever permissions
to avoid this annoying prompt? Please let me know if there is another
way to stop this UAC window for this application(i.e. without disabling
the UAC)?

It looks like a really good program. However, I think you're getting UAC
prompts because it isn't properly Vista compatible.

I've got a couple of programs which generate a UAC prompt. Firstly, are you
*sure* this is such a problem? All it requires is a single tap on the Enter
key, or a single mouse click. I find it too trivial to worry about.

??? What do you mean "single tap on the Enter key"?

If I do not enter the Administrator password the application will not
start. It is only this application that has the problem. All other
application do not prompt me for a password unless I exclusively
initiate the "Run as Administrator" option. The older version of this
same software was working fine. It is not an application that I use it
heavily. However, that one application prompts me for admin password
while others are working fine, is what bothering me.

Ah, I'm sorry - I misread your post. If you make your account an
administrator, the UAC prompt only requires the single key tap. As a normal
user, you must enter the admin password.

My bad. Still, the workarounds I gave are still valid.

Incidentally, I would be very tempted to discuss this with the author of the
application - they may not have tested it on Vista, and might be grateful
for the feedback.

The problem occurs because the application is not conforming to the
parameters established for software running in a Vista installation. This
needs to be brought to the attention of the software vendor as they need to
rewrite it to be within specifications.
