User account is Administrator but isn't

Hi,

I've had a problem for a while now with my Vista Ultimate 32bit. It is
the Upgrade version. A few months ago I had to do a reinstall, so I had
to install vista, then reinstall it to register with my key.

Since this time, I don't have full admin privilidges (yes, I understand
no one really does with Vista, but this is different ). I had a
problem where my recovery software wouldn't see the drives. The vendor's
support team figured out that for some reason, my account isn't working
correctly and I had to do "Run as Administrator" to get the software to
see my drives.

Now I am trying to get another application to work and it "stops
working" every time I run it. No online solution was found. If I "Run as
Administrator", the program works fine. It is a file utility (NameWiz
4.11) and it has a context menu, and that is really what I need working.

Any ideas how I can actually run as an administrator?

A while ago, I did try creating another account and then removing my
account's administrator's priviledges and then readding them and that
did not help.

Thanks for any help!

Hello Tim_Han,

You can use Compatibility Mode with the programs shortcut or EXE file.
This tutorial will show you how to if needed. Step 4 will show you how
to have the program "Run as administrator" all of the time without
having to right click on it everytime you want to run it.

You can enable the built-in Administrator account and log on to it when
you want full access. However, everything you run while logged on in
this account will have full access also. This tutorial will show you how
to if needed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks very much Shawn! The compatibility mode, along with "run as
administrator" allows it to work. Each time I run the program a dialog
box comes up asking for permission to run the app... not perfect, but
manageable until I move my user account over to the admin account.
