User Account Control and Acronis

I am evaluating a fully featured trial version of Acronis True Image Home
2009. I was able to backup both hard disks of my computer without too much
of a problem. I had to read through the documentation to grasp some terms I
was unfamiliar with, such as differential backup, but overall the initial
setup and backup was straightforward.

My problem is that I cannot get it to launch a scheduled backup. I noticed
that when I launch the program manually, the User Account Control dialog box
pops up and I have to grant permission for the program to run. I know how
to disable UAC but, for now, prefer not to.

Is it possible that the UAC is preventing the automatic scheduled backups?

Before I purchase the program, I would like to get it to perform the
scheduled backups.

I run scheduled backups via Acronis (versions 10 and 11) - no problems. Do
you get any error or dialogue
messages? There are several "steps" invoking auto backups which can prevent
success.

It may be a matter of passwords. Even if you do not use one for
your usual access, True Image needs one. The fix is easy - just
create a user named, for instance, "Backup", and allocate a
password. You then have something to input, but no need for a
password on your own account.

If you are backing up to another PC, it also needs password
access setting up.

I was "running with credentials". Name and password were entered in the
appropriate boxes.

I removed the password and the program behaved slighted differently, but
still no execution of the scheduled backup. With the password, the status
in the Tasks and Log screen was "Idle". Without the name/password, the
status shows "Queued". Problem: The scheduled task doesn't run,
irrespective of an "Idle" or "Queued" status.
