I turn it on and at some point I see where it has been turned off. I have
had to do this at least (3) times this week.

Any help please as I would like to keep it on...

I have no idea what this means.

What I need to know is why it gets turned off. Has anyone reported a bug or
virus that might do this and if so, is there a fix?

Thanks

Yes, am being told that a reboot is necessary for it to be actually changed
back to ON...

OK if someone is not doing this deliberately.
Try starting in safe mode. Is it still turned off?
Try using System Configuration and startup tab and disable all those you
don't need.
Has it started since you installed something?
If so try system restore.
Keep trying but in the end you may have to re-install WIN7
Good luck

I've been using Vista with UAC turned off since about an hour after I
first turned on my laptop a couple years ago. No problems.

You do have a firewall and a/v program installed, don't you?

Windows 7 allows finer control over user accounts -- it's not just an
on/off situation there.

I'd like to find a solution to this problem; I actually want it switche
on so I've been enabling and restarting, as per the Windows instructio
but remains disabled. I'm baffled as to why I can't re-enable it an
have tried the various different methods (msconfig etc) but to no avail
I've noticed a few odd gremlins over the last couple of weeks, thoug
this could be paranoia or general Vista rubbishness. I know that man
power users actually prefer to have it switched off, but I don't have
problem with it and am actually worried that it switching off by itsel
is a symptom of a larger problem
