User does not have access privileges

I have set up a dual boot system so that I can boot Windows Vista or
Windows XP selectively by setting one of the two partitions active. I
created a WORD file by MS Office 2007 running on Windows Vista and saved
in a data drive D: which is accessible from whichever OS running.

My problem is that the word file is not accessible from Windows XP or
"User does not have access privileges" is displayed. I set myself as
"Member of Administrators" on Windows XP.
Could anyone help?

You might try booting into Vista and then moving it [the file] to a location
from which XP can gain access to it.

Let me clarify my probelm descriptins: The D: drive where the problem
file resides is accessible from Windows Vista or Windows XP whichever is
running. The problem is that the problem file can not be opened from
Windows XP.

I'm no expert on permissions or ownership, but I think the NTFS file system
keeps this kind of info about all files. I think the Vista save was by a
'different owner', so on the XP machine, you have to take ownership of the
file before you can access it. Search this newsgroup for 'take ownership',
or maybe search help & support on your computer. Hopefully an expert will
put in more than my 2 cents worth.

I reviewed the security settings and it appeared to me that I have a
full control, and have ownership of the file. My sysytem is really a
triple-boot system so I tried Windows 2000 but to no avail.

I'm not a computer expert, but here's a real stab in the dark: your copy of
Office on your Windows XP OS -- is it Office 2003 or Office 2007? I just got
a new computer with office 2007, and so far it seems substantially different
from Office 2003. It's conceivable to me that files created in word 2007
can't be opened in word 2003. I notice that whenever I open one of my old
word 2003 files in word 2007, Word says that it's operating in "compatability
mode."
