Here's the situation. I have been trying to restore files from a
previous backup after having to reinstall Vista from the beginning on
top of the previous Vista install.
Doing this has caused several strange things to happen.
1. A numerically coded user has appeared in my user security lists. I
assume it was created as a connection to the previous user id of the
backup. Even though both used the exact same user id.
Is it okay if I simply delete this user id and reset Full Control to my
User ID?
2. I have had to reset some of the permissions on those folders and
others I thought were unrelated to the restore back to a permission of
Full Control for my current User Id.
Is this something I should expect every time I do a restore or is there
something that can be done to avoid it?
3. Under the folders >Desktop>User Id there are a set of fancy
standardized folders and icons (IE. Documents, Downloads, Favorites,
etc.). One of the folders has reverted back to a standard icon used
everywhere else in the Folders (IE, Desktop).
What caused this?
How do I restore the original fancy Icon?
Thank you,
Richard..
