Hi lanirae,

I use CCleaner on x64 Vista all the time without problems. Ad-Aware
has a new version for the x32 Vista. The x64 version is suppose to be
comming sometime soon, I hope.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

From the Lavasoft site:

Note: Ad-Aware 2007 is not Vista ready. All valid licenses will be upgraded
to the Vista compatible version for free upon release.

Well, that depends. I have it, it did not work properly (as you said, not
Vista ready), but every time I poked the Update button, it found an
"upgrade" and installed it. Now, though it works, it is incompatible with
Aero, Vista changes everything to Vista Basic, and automatically goes back
to normal when AdAware is shut down. I think the "upgrade" was actually a
downgrade.

thanks... I might add that I use the FREE versions.....does that make a
difference?
I have norton internet security and it says it catches spy files...but
everytime I scan it finds one lonely cookie. Ccleaner and adaware always
found tons of stuff.

I am so sick of upgrading and adding new software to run on vista.... jeesh
I had a compatability problem with my back up files on my Money 95 and also
with Quickbooks and ended up buying the newest versions of both. It's been
spend spend spend since spending the bucks on the new vista computer!

Lanirae,

I would uninstall Norton. It has a lot of issues with Vista.

The free versions are just as good as the paid ones. They just do no
have some of the more convenient features as the paid ones have. I woul
also use Windows Defender to. Make sure that the real-time scanning i
turned on for better protection. See this link below for details:

Hope this helps,

Yes, Windows Defender is kick-ass for spyware.
Ever since I've been using it, my other antispyware program have had nothing
to get rid of. :-)
