Using Gmail in WLM Desktop Beta

According to what I read when I installed this I got the impression that
Gmail could be used as a Web Based email instead of using it with POP3
settings. I would rather use it this way and see how well WLM Desktop would
sync up with it. I know that I can set everything so that I don't lose
anything out of Gmail, but I'd rather use it web based through WLMDB if
possible. Upon trying to configure this the program doesn't want to seem to
cooperate and it will not let me log in, the POP3 works fine though. Anyone
know how to configure this?

The proper group for Windows Live Mail Desktop beta rigt now is
microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail. I copied this from a post in that group:

Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com

Incoming mail server:
E-mail Username:
Secure password authentication (SSL): no

Outgoing mail server:
Requires authentication: yes

Server port numbers:
Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
Requires secure connection (SSL): yes
Incoming mail (POP3): 995
Requires secure connection (SSL): yes

nope, Gmail can only be added after you have signed into WLMDb with a
Hotmail/MSN/Live email address ... i was under the same impression because
it said Windows Live ID, which I have linked with my email address

Well I guess I should clarify this some more...I appreciate the feedback you
all gae, but I don't think I said enough for you to understand what I was
trying for here.

I have a Hotmail account which is the way I set up WLMDB by default to begin
with....I want to add my Gmail account there too. The post before this one
mentioned the settings to enable it, but that is for POP3, not HTTP, it's
different, I knew that. POP3 just pulls the emails down from Gmail and pulls
them into WLMDB (or Outlook, Thunderbird, whatever). What I want is to use
the HTTP option under accounts in hopes that I can make WLMDB sync with the
mail and folder options. According to the description for the program it
says that WLMDB is capable of checking web based email (not indicating you
need to use POP settings to do so) and I want to use it that way for a few
reasons.

I know POP will work just fine, however what I would like to do is use my
Gmail so that it's in sync with WLMDB and they work from each other. For
instance, if I get an email and want to delete it, when I get it in WLMDB,
instead of just getting it FROM Gmail (which will remove it from Gmail, or
Archive it, or leave it and eventually I'll have to go to the website anyway)
I would like for whatever happens in WLMDB to happen in Gmail....so if I
delete the email, it gets deleted in Gmail, if I leave it, it stays in Gmail.
That's the way it works with WLMDB and Windows Live Mail (I know it's a
Microsoft product and their designed to work together) but it also seems to
indicate somewhat that you can do the same with with Gmail and Yahoo.

Currently this cannot be done, not because of WLMD itself, but because
Gmail doesn't give an http link to do it. If Gmail gave a link that
could be used, then WLMD could very easily be used to synch your account.
