I have gotten an answer to my question here. Now I would like to give you some hints.
I had garbled names on the Import also. But when I installed Windows Live Mail it let me import at that time and the folders didn't come in garbled. Also on the import I had folders out of place. Say under Inbox instead of under Storage Folders. The import brought in another set of folders so I went through them all to make sure I had everything and deleted the duplicates.
I think the best way to handle the folders is to use Move to move them to the inbox of the Main E-mail. I'm sorry to say you can't do a range on the folders, but on the e-mail that you want to more from the Storage Folder InBox, you can Move a range of e-mail using your shift key.
This way all the folers will be ready to receive the results of Message Rules also.
I'm use to dealing with one InBox for 4 users. So I'm getting use to a new way also. I haven't found a workaround for that.

Update. I am able to see the Windows Live Mail folders now. The reason I
had trouble seeing them originally is because the server name I gave for my
ISP email (Microsoft Mail Server) appears garbled in Windows Explorer, and
does not read exactly as "Microsoft Mail Server" as it does in the folder
list within Windows Live Mail. Will this cause problems during an email
import after a hard drive format?

Using Storage Folders Instead of Default Folders
How do I go about informing the program that I want to use the sent items
folder, the inbox, the outbox, etc. from the storage folders I brought in
from Outlook Express instead of the ones at the top of the screen? For
example, when I send an email, the email doesn't go into the same sent items
folder I used in Outlook Express, but a new sent items folder. If I want
that email in the old sent items folder, I have to move it there manually.
Is there a way around this? It seems weird to have two sets of folders. I'd
prefer one.

Your description is a bit unclear. By "folder I used in Outlook Express"
I hope you don't mean one of OE's .dbx files but just a representation
of them which has been imported into WLMail? E.g. when you installed
WLMail you were probably given an opportunity to do that.
FWIW I didn't bother letting that happen because my message store
in OE is huge, so I have no idea what the normal result may be.
AFAIK neither OE nor WLMail have any way of redirecting copies
of messages away from Sent Items. So if you were putting your
messages in OE somewhere other than in Sent Items you were
either doing it manually, e.g., either by dragging, using a menu,
or (perhaps) by manually invoking a rule. I really don't use rules
on either app but FWIW it looks as if the rules I had in OE were
successfully imported too.
Try again? : )

Hi, Robert.
Yes, I am not referring to OE's .dbx files but just a representation
of them which has been imported into WLMail. They're called "Storage
folders" in Windows Live Mail, and in addition to those, Windows Live Mail
has its own Inbox, Drafts, Sent items, Junk e-mail, and Deleted items. When
I was using OE, and I sent emails, the emails would naturally go into OE's
sent items folder. But, this isn't hapening in Windows Live Mail. It's
using its own (Windows Live Mail) sent items folder to put sent email, and I
have to put it manually into the sent items folder I imported from OE.
Here's a screenshot.

I went from 3 accounts in OE to 3 accounts in WLM.
Each account has an Inbox, Sent Items, etc.
What I did was move the messages from the Storage folders to the appropriate
account folder.

Hi, Ron.
That's actually a pretty good idea. I could even rename certain folders of
WLM's and create new ones to match the names of my old folders. I have
roughly 1,800 messages in my Misc. folder and 1,500 in my sent folder. In
the others, a handful in each. They're 1.78 GB in total. Thanks for the
idea, my friend. I'll try it.
I have another question. When I go into the store folder for Windows Live
Mail, I see the imported storage folders from OE, but none of the folders for
Windows Live Mail. Is this because I have nothing in the Windows Live Mail
folders? Thanks.
