Greetings Mike,
Unfortunately changing these "reserved" domain Live IDs isn't allowed. As such, you'll
either need to sign in using the new ID or register this new e-mail as a Live ID (depending
on what you're trying to change it to).
To transfer your contacts, sign into the old Live ID and within the main Messenger window
(with the contacts listed), press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar,
choose the Contacts menu, then Save instant messaging contacts and save the file on the
desktop. Then sign out and into the new ID, choose the same menu and use the Import instant
messaging contacts option instead.
All the contacts will need to authorize the new ID before they appear online on your new
list.
