Using a Vista 32bit serial on the 64bit version?

I bought a copy of Vista Ultimate 32 bit edition a couple of months ago,
however I want to upgrade the RAM on my machine to 4+ gig and therefore I
need to get a 64 bit operating system. My question is, can I use my Vista
32 bit serial for Vista 64 bit, or will I have to splash out for a new copy
of Vista?

Mike.

Yes, the license key will work on the 64bit version.
However, you might want to give some more thought
about using x64. Driver support is lacking and software, too.

the serial is valid for 32 and 64 bit, the only thing is that you cannot use
both versions at the same time...

If you do not have the 64-bit DVD, just check you 32-bit's packaging for
instructions on how to get it from Microsoft. They ship it for a nominal
fee. You Product Key should work with the one they send you. You are
licensed to install and run either the 32-bit or the 64-bit at your
discretion .. but not both at the same time.

I am brand new to Windows and I have Vista business 64. So far, I am
quite happy, and all my hardware and software work. No driver problems
at all.

I will not say you've been lucky, that's the wrong message, but many
people including me have had rather inconvenient driver problems even
with new hardware that allegedly is compatible. Some hardware will never
get 64 bit drivers and some software that has 64 bit drivers still does
not work properly. IOW it's by no means a straight swap.
