I am familliar using Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2. I have just
purchased a new Toshiba laptop that came with Windows Home Premium
Vista operating system.

WINDOWS VISTA FOR DUMMIES book says it is possible to make Windows
Vista look and feel like XP.

My question, by doing this would I sacrifice any of the advanced
features of Vista?

I would have preferred purchasing a new laptop with XP installed, but
none were available at the price and features that the Toshiba
possessed.

best, Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Vista has two modes: Vista and Classic. There is no option to make it look
like XP despite what the book might tell you (unless it was actually
referencing Classic mode). Going to classic mode will cause you to lose the
aero/glass features, but not any functionality.

I use Classic Menus and do not believe that I am missing any "advanced"
features in Vista. The only advanced feature that is less intrusive in
Classic menus is the idiocy of one, single, graphics file making the
entire folder turn into a graphics folder.
