Using WinMail--can't reply in newsgroup threads?

I can create new threads but I can't REPLY to theads. I've replied to TWO
messages in the Windows.Vista.General group in the last couple of days. All
three messages do show up in my Sent Items folder--one of those replies was
in a thread that I created myself but I can't reply to the guy that asked me
questions for clarification unless I use the web browswer.

But none of the messages show up in the group. I've searched the web
browser newsgroup page as well as in WinMail.

Well--this is just weird. I searched for my reply at work on my lunch break
using OE6 and the web browser. They didn't show up in either--the replies
were posted LAST NIGHT.

I just looked again via the web browser interface and ONE of my replies is
there. But it still doesn't show up in the readers (OE6 or WinMail on Vista).

Don't reply to sender...reply to group.

It's the ISP and/or whatever NNTP service is being used problems. I use two
different NG readers, and in some NG(s), I can make a post, and it won't
show with both readers. Then I can make a post and it will show using both
readers. On the same token, I can read poster's post in one NG with both
readers, and then I can't read the same poster in another NG with the
readers, when I see others posting to the poster.

So, I don't think it's a problem with a client machine and its NG reader.
You can call the ISP and see if they can do anything for you, but for me, I
gave up on them. It is what it is.

All this happened on XP too

I'm accessing the M$ newsgroup server directly (as opposed to using a third
party like google or any other nntp server).

There are two different ISPs involved. Up until early January, I used OE6
(on WinXP) to post to & read from this group without issue (using the same
ISP) so I doubt that it's at the ISP level.

I thought about that. But when I look in my Sent Items folder, I see that
the newsgroup WAS listed as the the recipient--the person to whom I was
replying WAS NOT. And like I said in a previous message in this thread, when
I checked the server via the web browser once I got home, my reply WAS there.

But it's still not showing up in WinMail (on vista) or OE6 (on WinXP).

Thanks!

its your antivirus, its scanning the outgoing nttp server and its timing
out..

turn off your antivirus for a little and try sending..

tell me if this helps solve the mystery :-)

Then it's the NNTP server period and nothing you have on the client side is
preventing you from viewing a post or making a post.

I didn't have problems until EarthLink went on the blink a couple of times
for days and issues with NNTP.

This last time EL went on the blink has produced the situation with non MS
NG(s) of not being able to see some posters in a NG while I could see the
same poster in another NG. I got one poster that I like to see what he says
from time to time that I cannot see in any NG but MS NG(s).

The other situation you may face with MS NG(s) is if you post something that
is deemed objectionable/controversial in the wording or (keying on a word).
The post is going to be rejected, if certain words are in the post, when
posting to a MS NG.

I decided to try reading it using Thunderbird--I'm on the SAME PC as I'm
using WinMail on. The message show up fine in TBird.

SAME SERVER. SAME ISP. SAME PC.

WinMail does NOT see my replies
TBird DOES see my replies

Yeah, and I use TB too, and sometimes they don't show up, give it time.
