We have 40-50 sites and are considering implementing WSUS at each site.. Can
we use a two tier, spoke and hub topology where there is a master WSUS
server which pushes out the remote WSUS servers?? I see talk of an
"upstream" server but am not sure if that can be connected to a parent WSUS
server or not..
Thanks,
JP

That's about the only way you can do it!

What other options were you considering?

The "upstream" server would be the master server which is the hub of your
topology.
The "downstream" server would be the remote servers which are the spokes of
your topology.

All of this is discussed in the WSUS Deployment Guide. Highly recommended
reading if you've got 50 sites to consider.

Everything you need for WSUS is at
http://technet2.microsoft.com/window...s/default.mspx

And, almost everything else is at

Yes, but do consider whether you need WSUS servers at every site. Depending on
the number of machines at a site and the bandwidth to the site you may be able
to server some (or all) of your sites from a single central WSUS server.

Harry.
