Using XP And Vista Operating Systems On One Computer

I have recently changed my computer to one with Vista Home Premium installed
and I have found that several pieces of software that I have used happily
with XP will not run using the Vista operating system. The particular
software is very expensive, consisting of 3, CAD programs and my accounts
program. Is it possible to install XP on my system and still retain the Vista
operating system or do I have to format my hard drive and start again? It
would be nice if Microsoft could bring out a service pack to make Vista 100%
compatable.

http://apcmag.com/the_definitive_dua...stepbystep.htm

Just pick out Vista 1st, then XP, from the short list.
It's very good info.

Another way to go, would be to install XP on a Virtual PC
It is called Multi-booting, and is free from Microsoft.
Info below.

Re Program compatibility.
Have you tried right-clicking on the Programs' setup.exe> then Properties>
compatibility tab across the top>Install in XP SP2 mode?

Actually, it is no longer at that link. The site does not mention Vista
Home Premium as supported as a host. Is this correct?

Thanks everybody, it looks as though Virtual PC might be the answer. I have
not downloaded it yet but I have run the demo and am suitably impressed.

I will comment after I've gone down this road.
