V5 update

I had a worksheet open in excel and left my laptop for about an hour. When I
got back my screen was black and I could not get it to come up. So I closed
the laptop and opened it then had to log in again. My file was lost. I could
swear I was saving it as I went either to my thumb drive or the hard drive on
my laptop. But I cannot find the file that was modified today. I can find
that the automatic update installed V5 while I was out. Did it save my file
somewhere? I really can't go back and redo 5 hours of work.
