I am getting the "scenario 2" error described in this knowledgebase article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;885819
We are going through a corporate proxy running ISA server, and this proxy
authenticates its connections. Anonymous connections are not allowed at all.
Therefore the V5 Windowsupdate software is not authenticating with the proxy
server and failing. V4 windowsupdate did not have this bug- and it *is* a
bug, that knowledgebase article confirms it as such.
The work around described in that knowledgebase article talks about fixing
up ISA server to allow anonymous connections. That's all well and good,
except (a) it's not my ISA server and I don't have the access to edit it, and
(b) they wouldn't allow anonymous connections anyway, even if I asked them to.
Is Microsoft going to fix this egregious bug in V5 of windowsupdate? When?
PLEASE?
We can't get security fixes from Windowsupdate until this is taken care of.
