V5 WU Error number: 0x8024400A

WU scans and then shows a page with that error number and various help
links...none of which are any help. I tried online SP2 email support but
the submit page never gave me an incident number.

You do uninstall winxp hotfix 833978 and try to windows update again.

If you read other poosts...WU has an intermittent server problem apparently.
Not good advice to tell people to uninstall hotfixes.

I had the same problem about 7 hours ago i disabled my antivirus AVG
and it downloaded okayI was on top of the world and i came tumbling down.It
wanted to repair messnger but it was okay b4 I couldnt use IE or Yahoo I had
to clear the cache and things now work (so far)
