Hi -

I'm going on vacation soon and would like to have an automatic response that
says I am on vacation.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Not a good idea. You would have to leave your PC on 24/7, which
is a possible fire hazard as well as using a lot of electricity.
Also, it would let spammers know that yours is a valid address, so
they will trade your address to other spammers.
Unscrupulous people would know you are not home, setting you up
for a burglary.

Why not just send a vacation notice to just those with a need to know?

After considering the risks that Gary posted if you still want to do it this
will show you how.

Gary's got some good advice here. Send out one email to those who "need to
know" and then when you leave litterly unplug your computer and all
peripheral equipment (printer, monitor, external modem, etc). That way you
don't have worry about your surge protector being adequate. I've done this
for years (over 20 to be exact).
