Test your computer's exposure to online security threats and learn how to make your computer more secure:

Send the file to Virus Total for identification. Virus Total will submit
the file to a great number of antivirus vendors and send you a report
for free.

Well, that was fun! Both tests get me:

Error 001

Security Scan and Virus Detection do not work with your operating
system. To run Security Scan and Virus Detection, you must be using
Windows 98/ME, NT 4.0 Workstation/2000 Pro/XP, or Mac OS 8.1 or higher.

I am using 64-bit Vista, so maybe that's key.

Right click on the file and look at the properties. Should give you some
ideal as to what it's all about.

It's also used by legitimate companies.

Wanna get into **** from MickeyMouse? If it is a system file, you can't be
sending it out to anyone. Part of the fun of proprietary software.

Cheers.

Microsoft has a handy web page that lets you search for specific file names
(primarily dlls, but includes a lot of exes) and tells you version numbers
and other info for that file name.
