Validate Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2 without reinstalling program

A friend of mine built my computer for me, and I learned after the fact that
I do not have a valid installation of Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2.

I want to purchase a Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2 license (and the CD for
backup purposes) without having to reinstall all of the programs already on
my computer.

Is it possible to validate Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2 without reinstalling
all of the programs on my computer?

It's not possible to determine if XP needs to be reinstalled until the
integrity of the system files are checked by the Windows Product Key
Update Tool.

I hope your 'friend' compensates you for the added cost of purchasing a
