Bob if you sold a laptop with an OEM XP Installation I would have
thought you would have to be an M$ licensed agent or have bought the
Laptop via a licensed agent either way WTF are you doing posting
license keys on usenet?
If you mean by "validate" the laptop WGA Validation and you are sure
the original software / key is genuine then it is likely to be WGA
that is causing the problems - apparantly its not entirely foolproof
by some considerable margin. The second key not working either points
the finger at WGA not the installation.
There are WGA work arounds aplenty just google, that will keep you
going until M$ sort it out, don't hold your breath though there has
been plenty of coverage of "pirates" cracking WGA in under a week,
but I have not seen a lot regarding the huge problems it has caused to
legit users suddenly cut off by WGA, yet.
I would post the work arounds but it upsets certain MVPs who call such
posts "worthless"
meanwhile
This is useful; and "worthless" of course sorry Carey.

See why posting CD keys is a bit of a lame idea now there are 2 more
genuine keys in circulation and it does not matter if they validate or
not.
