Validation Not Completed: Service Unavailable

I am trying to use WindowsUpdate to update many laptops and desktops to WinXP
SP2 and it appears that the validation server is not functioning properly at
this time. I have tried for two days now to get this to work.

Validation Not Completed: Service Unavailable
We are unable to validate your Windows installation at this time. It
appears that our activation servers are not functioning properly. Please
return to complete the validation process at a later time. We hope that
you'll return later to retry the validation process so that you may enjoy the
full benefits of genuine Microsoft software.

This is causing me to fall behind in what I need to do. Is there any way to
know when this will be fixed.

According to this site:

Validation is not required at this time. In other words, just don't
validate. IIRC (I did this a while ago) it just had an option to not
validate at this time right next to the option to validate.
