If its a custom application, you would be the one in the position of
verifying compatibility if you are the developer. You can try running
Windows Vista in a Virtual Machine and test the application to verify
compatibility, you can contact the developer, visit their website to find
out about Vista compatibility, patches, updates or new versions. Most 32 bit
applications will work just fine on Vista, if you are running Vista x64,
applications with 16 bit installers or 16 bit apps in general or not
compatible.
