What version are we downloading???

It would be wonderful If the Windows Live Idea group or webmaster included
the software version number on the web-site next to the client download
button, this way we would know in advance what version we're installing
before downloading. How about it? Version numbers, PLEASE? Thank you!

The Messenger website is partly a marketing effort and their goal is try to make it as simple
and clean as possible.

This being said, this information is available on the Microsoft Download Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

Just search for Messenger and you should see them all. You have to click to see the details
of each (going by the dates helps).

I agree....it should tell us which version we are downloading next to the

I agree with Jonathan Key: Messenger is used by many kinds of people, and the
place you download it should be simple. So, the way it is right now, we just
know that when we press the 'download' button, we're downloading the last
stable version.

Hi,

Just to be clear, I'm all for a "details" button on the Messenger site for specifics. I'm a
big fan of interfaces that can be clear to non-technical users but still provide the detail
more technical users want.
